On May 26th Zanmi Lakay is taking advantage of Bissap Baobab's generous offer to host a fundraiser so we can all enjoy a wonderful meal together while helping children in Haiti, and our organization will receive 20% of the entire evening's profits from the restaurant!

Etón, a local company that helped us with earthquake relief with a donation of 50 windup flashlight radios with solar power and cell phone plug in last year, posted our thank you card on their website. There are 50 very grateful people in Haiti, and we are too!
Getting Ready for Haiti
We've been preparing for our February/March 2011 trip to Haiti, and last weekend Susan Bradley and I put the Care Bags together that we'll give out to street children. Care Bags are zip lock baggies containing a new t-shirt, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and tooth paste, comb, mini-pad of paper and pen, and for the older boys we include razors. We add other items if we have them available like vitamin-C candy, decks of cards, and other goodies.

Please Remember Haiti
It has been one year since the devastating earthquake shook Haiti on January 12, 2010, at 4:53 pm.
We will be mourning and honoring those lost in the quake and hoping that the international community will continue supporting and helping the millions of Haitians still surviving. We are thankful that all of the children we sponsor in our education program are healthy and in school (Papouche even graduated from carpentry trade school!), and the organizations and programs we partner with are still running to help so many more children in need. Our Annual Education Fund for Children and Teens in Transition
It’s back to school time in Haiti! Given a chance, empowering children enables them to improve their quality of life. This is still our philosophy and it is critical now because so many schools in Haiti collapsed in the earthquake. Our Education Fund includes two programs that are keeping children and young adults in school and we are asking for your continued support to help these kids for 2010/2011.
Last year when we began our School Sponsorship program we had eight children that were immediately funded, and this year we have at least seven more children on our list ...
