Andrew Bird — Eyeoneye Video

In late 2011 Bird signed to the record label Mom+Pop. Andrew Bird's first release for the label was the soundtrack to the film Norman, which included his original score as well as songs by other artists. Bird sequenced the soundtrack to flow as a stand-alone album rather than a compilation of music from the film. The best compliment I've heard is that without having seen the film, you can imagine it by listening to the soundtrack. The sequence is a big part of that effect. Andrew Bird is currently on tour. Visit his site to see if he plays in your city.

Assignment: Kanaval 2011 – covered by 6 ACFFC student photojournalists

Our Photography Workshops continued on our most recent trip to Haiti in February and March this year as we shared actual exhibits with our classes in Jacmel and Cité Soleil. We wanted our students to experience their photographs up on walls being seen and shared just as they had been in four exhibits in the U.S. last year. We also had group slideshows, certificates were given to each student in Cité Soleil along with bags of food, they told us how much they love it all and want better equipment, and volunteers came to speak with the students! We also introduced them to ...

Getting Ready for Haiti

We've been preparing for our February/March 2011 trip to Haiti, and last weekend Susan Bradley and I put the Care Bags together that we'll give out to street children. Care Bags are zip lock baggies containing a new t-shirt, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and tooth paste, comb, mini-pad of paper and pen, and for the older boys we include razors. We add other items if we have them available like vitamin-C candy, decks of cards, and other goodies. The boys that wash cars on the street are always very thankful, and one time I handed out a couple of Care Bags while at a stop light ...
